Record numbers of New Zealanders are moving to Australia amid weak growth and limited job prospects at home. A striking more than 71,000 citizens left in a year (over 1% of the population). The NYT cites higher pay, lower living costs and better career opportunities in Australia as the main causes for the trend. Economists warn the exodus skews toward skilled workers, risking long-term damage to New Zealand’s economy. The NZ government hopes reforms and tax incentives will persuade Kiwis to stay, and those who left, ultimately return.

    !ping AUS

If the Yankee guy keeps on talking about Canada as the 51st state, or Greenland, well, we might as well get in on the action…

And besides, it’s in the constitution, we get to call KJ Apa, taika, Peter, Weta and Thomasin McKenzie Australians, get to never shut up about “Aussie beef ” and “Aussie lamb”…

AND the most important bit of all… Wallabies can’t get their arses kicked by the All-Blacks as a foreign team if the All Blacks ARE in the Wallabies… Aussie Aussie Aussie!

Can we just poach all of the skilled tradesmen from NZ, the government has made it too difficult for construction workers from the rest of the world to move here and alleviate the dire labour shortages in the sector.
