“The United States will control parts of Greenland by designating them as sovereign base areas under the terms of a proposed deal agreed in Davos.
Per the draft framework which mimics Britain’s agreement with Cyprus, American bases would be considered US territory in the Arctic region, The Telegraph understands.
The framework, agreed between Donald Trump and Mark Rutte, the Nato secretary-general on Wednesday evening, will ease Danish fears that the US is preparing to annex the semi-autonomous region.
Mr Trump declined in a series of interviews to explain the terms of the deal but admitted the issue of ownership was a “little complex”.
The framework would allow the US to perform military operations, intelligence, and training, while also facilitating some local development including potentially mining for rare earth minerals, without seeking permission from Denmark.
Confirming the plan, a diplomatic source told The Telegraph: “The idea was to give Trump a deal.”

I don’t really care for how we treated our allies on this, but I’m glad we’ve come to a deal everyone can live with. The President’s use of leverage here was like pointing a pistol at a friend and telling them to pass the beer, but hey, at least we got a drink

We are the strongest I’ve ever seen in my lifetime. The world is finally being reminded of American power!

Where are all the “conservatives” who kept saying they didn’t understand why Trump was pushing this and that they hated the rhetoric and all that other stuff?
Trump has been running the same deal-making playbook for decades and it’s wildly successful, and once again it’s succeeded here. We originally had nothing, we now have something.

This all could have been easily done without the drama.

Seems like some decent concessions. Not a bad deal. Am I crazy?
