Disinformation and misinformation is one of the greatest challenges facing liberal democracies today. It is eroding the ability of citizens to agree on basic facts, putting democracy in extreme jeopardy as clearly shown by the rise of MAGA in the US and the resurgence of right-wing authoritarian movements around the world. And AI is about to pour jet fuel on the fire.
How can liberal societies confront this danger without violating liberal values like freedom of speech?
