Submission Statement : this is an option piece by a pro-immigration writer on the common themes of misinformation by the immigration advocacy movement, and how it’s disconnects with reality as viewed by the voter base cause them to reject immigration. I’ve seen them on this sub countless times so I thought it would be relevant to link. In short

    – “Immigration is about helping the vulnerable”, when the voter base cares mainly about benefit to the country and their communities.

    – ““Immigration is good for everyone, everywhere, all at once”, when immigration of some demographics into some communities is detrimental. IMO this isn’t as big of an issue for the US yet but certainly is a case for Europe.

    – “If immigration is good in one case, it must be good in another” – immigrants are diverse and should not be lumped together as a homogenous bloc

    – “Immigration is good… unless it is temporary”, temporary workers can carry large benefits and not naturalizing is not a shame

    – “Immigration is good… misinformation is why people oppose it.”, there are real concerns by some people who have been harmed by aspects of immigration and dismissing/gaslighting them turns them against immigration
