I honestly don’t know how the left and center can respond to the Fox News and conservative propaganda ecosystem.
This isn’t just an American problem. From Russia to Israel to Hungary, we see state-aligned media play a critical role in maintaining regime support. How can an opposition counteract it? How do you speak (if at all) to the mass of folks entranced by it? And what does accountability mean for the propagandists who just shamelessly, blatantly lie?
I don’t know the answers to these questions, but I do have a feeling these are becoming increasingly critical and urgent if we hope to maintain a free society.
