This really shows the uselessness of working with Trump, and why Canada, especially with Carney’s recent speech, hasn’t really bothered with toning down their rhetoric anymore. Diversification is honestly the only path forward that might partially compensate for the US cutting itself off from bilateral trade.

Is there even a real deal for the legislature to enact?
Like with actual words and signatures?

China and the US competing for who can alienate South Korea for no reason harder:

1. Summary
President Donald Trump said on Monday he was increasing tariffs on South Korean imports into the U.S. related to autos, lumber and pharmaceuticals to 25% while accusing the ally’s legislature of “not living up” to its trade deal with Washington.
Trump’s social media post: “Because the Korean Legislature hasn’t enacted our Historic Trade Agreement, which is their prerogative, I am hereby increasing South Korean TARIFFS on Autos, Lumber, Pharma, and all other Reciprocal TARIFFS, from 15% to 25%.”
2. How is this related to the sub
(1) Breakdown of free trade: Trump is unleashing tariff erratically. Lumber ? I don’t think Korea has been exporting lumber product to the US.
3. My opinion
I’m not sure who told him the trick but it seems Trump realized that Korea has been not putting the so-called “Trump Tariff Deal” on legislative approval because they were waiting for Supreme Court to declare tariffs void and retract the deal rapidly when that comes.

I am once again asking SCOTUS to get off their asses and rule whether this bullshit is even legal already (it isn’t).
