My small rural hometown was hit hard in 2008 when the sequester led to the local defense contractor laying off/ relocating 90% of its workforce.
Things have been slowly turning around over the past 5 years or so, thanks in large part to a number of small mom and pop businesses opening up in our historic downtown.
I guarantee that they all rely heavily on the local post office (which fortunately is located at the center of our walkable downtown) for both receiving inputs and shipping products out of town.
