I’m not saying that Gates did anything illegal (though it doesn’t look great), but simply regretting something doesn’t absolve you of your sins.

I bet he does cause his wife seems very willing to to talk if he gets prosecuted. I think she wants to talk now but does not want to end up in likely loosing legal battle (his word against hers) for saying anything. Id say between that email and her account, that changes a lot.
