The other day I noticed how the scales on a snakes head reminded me of the interlocking walls of the Maya, Inca and Aztecs. Their religions also had snake gods. The Incas had Amaru, the Aztecs Quetzalcoatl, the Mayans Kulkulkan, Qʼuqʼumatz or Tohi as their feathered serpent gods. Even though there are differences, every one was associated with knowledge. Thoughts anyone?

My thought is you should become a stonemason.
I feel like with that being a recent photo of a snake, and the wall having been built in “ancient “ time, that the snake evolved based on seeing these structures hold up to the powers of time
My family is full of stone masons my Dad and three uncles my brother and a few cousins. Not uncommon to build something into the wall for fun. But people certainly got ideas from nature and tried things and if it worked well they kept on doing it.
Interesting. Just speculation, but, building on your hypothesis, what if they were storing a preferred specimen’s pattern for some sort of zoomancy (ophio-lepidomancy, more particularly) practice?
