SS: On January 26, a man threw a bomb into a crowd of people in Boorloo, Perth. It was a fragment bomb containing screws and ball-bearings, the kind designed to send shrapnel flying and cause maximum damage. Thankfully the bomb didn’t blow up.

It took nine days for charges to be laid, and the man’s lawyers have successfully argued for identity to be suppressed. The relevance to neoliberalism that this article details the enduring attacks by the far right on vulnerable communities, where events like this were sadly downplayed.

Regardless of your opinion on whether or not it should be Australia Day or Invasion Day, I think we can all agree that commemorations should not be the target of, in this case attempted, terrorist attacks.
