Deportation is not a punishment, it is not cruelty, it is not a death sentence. It’s sending someone home. People in this country illegally cannot be allowed to use their kids as a shield against deportation, because that creates a whole array of perverse incentives on the part of illegal immigrants.
It is the COMPASSIONATE thing to allow children to stay with their families, instead of throwing them into the foster system. A young child also has barely has any conception of a specific country being their home.
