What a terrible feeling it must be for Germany. It is as though watching the man who believed you, helped you onto your two feet after your absolute worst fall into behaviours reminiscent of the start of your own worst phase. For some time the US has spoken of the need for Europe to wake up and defend itself. Well in the worst of circumstances it appears this shall be how it comes to pass. As said in the article, I don’t believe 80 years of friendship will come to end after four years of a stupid president but certainly something there is ruptured and it shall take a long time to heal.
