Nine people were killed and 25 injured in shootings at a high school and a nearby home in Tumbler Ridge, British Columbia, police said. Officers found six victims dead at the school, one who died en route to hospital and two at a connected residence; the suspected shooter was found dead from an apparent self-inflicted injury. Authorities have not disclosed a motive and are continuing to notify families, though officials said the threat to the community has ended. A shelter-in-place order was lifted later in the day, and local schools and a college campus will remain closed for the week. The attack is among the deadliest mass shootings in Canadian history and follows another major incident in the province last year.

We haven’t had a school shooting like this in Canada in a VERY long time. The last time an elementary or high school was targeted like this was 1999 I think? This really is one of those things that just doesn’t happen here, especially somewhere like Tumbler Ridge which is this little town in Northern BC
