Tariffs are probably the only tax that’s palatable to the US public. If you raise income taxes you’re basically not going to get reelected. But it’s not sustainable because they keep lowering taxes and increasing spending. It’s kind of a game of chicken to see which admin is the one that has to fold and increase the taxes.
And yet somewhere around 100 million people who will tell you with a straight face that them Chinese are paying for it all

Took a whole year to figure that out?

I feel like we already knew that was the case from last few times we tried this.

Just wait for when SCOTUS bucks all layperson interpretations of a tax and says these tariffs are legal. Prices will shoot up. Inflation has only been chill because there’s a good likelihood of recouping costs of tariffs.
The longer SCOTUS delays this decision, the less likely they are to rule against Trump.

It was official the moment it started, CNN. That’s how tariffs work. Stop trying to act like this was a question.

>US businesses and consumers last year [paid for nearly 90%](https://libertystreeteconomics.newyorkfed.org/2026/02/who-is-paying-for-the-2025-u-s-tariffs/) of 2025’s import taxes, the Fed branch found. That’s hardly surprising: The National Bureau of Economic Research and the Congressional Budget Office recently [found](https://www.nber.org/papers/w34620) roughly the [same thing](https://www.cbo.gov/publication/62052?).
No shit, huh?
Here’s a weird thought I had.

Too bad tariffs are a regressive tax though
