It is this kind of leftist/normie mindset that reflects a complete detachment from reality. Traveling to a country like Iran is not the same as booking a weekend in Spain. The risks are very well known. The Foreign Office warnings are clear. The visa time consuming and complicated process itself makes it obvious that you are not dealing with a normal tourist destination.
You do not just “naively” end up there without being repeatedly told about the dangers. At multiple stages you are warned. Choosing to ignore all of that is a conscious decision.
I genuinely feel bad that they’re detained and I hope they are released quickly. But at the same time, pretending this was unforeseeable is not serious. They knew what they were doing, and they wanted to prove a point that failed.
