My friend Dan Snow did some research into a weird phenomenon where non profit healthcare institutions have an incentive to roll up private clinics because, among other benefits, all the real estate they just bought becomes tax exempt.
Dan Snow is the former Director of Data Science for the Cook County Assessor's Office, where he created models and tools to improve the accuracy of assessments. He now leads research at Turquoise Health and writes Price Points, a newsletter exploring prices in the U.S. healthcare system
