This is the first layout of one of the new giant detention facilities I’m aware of and I think it’s revelatory for its capacity in such a small space. This is just the first floor – the second floor has another 3k beds. The Social Springs, GA municipal government’s statement on the facility can be found [here](https://www.socialcirclega.gov/Home/Components/News/News/241/16) and this image is taken from a document [here](https://www.socialcirclega.gov/home/showpublisheddocument/1522/639070371368585296).

The big picture is that the government has purchased **23** such facilities (admittedly not all this large) totaling ~75k more beds, which would double immigrant detention capacity to ~150k. The US government is spending tens of millions of dollars (over $100m for at least one warehouse, in Hagerstown MD) and that’s just for the buildings, not counting furnishing or staffing.

I think this combined with the comparatively small number of immigration judges the Trump admin is hiring indicates that their plan on immigration is mass detention in terrible conditions to pressure immigrants to self-deport.
