Submission statement: A brief rundown of some of the changes that has happened the last year in Coreper II. Coreper II is one of the core decision-taking groups in the EU, which most people probably have never heard of.
Coreper II prepares FAC (Foreign policy), GAC (general affairs, think institutional affairs), ECOFIN (economic affairs) and JHA (Justice, Home and migration affairs) council meetings. It is also primarily responsible for preparing European Council. This means, that before ministers meet in these formations, most things have cleared Coreper first, so that ministers don’t have to sit and negotiate for hours.
Increasingly, as the article shows, some Coreper I issues (energy and competition) has also slowly been moved to Coreper II, and the group is also meeting more often and is taking more (preliminary) decisions.

Considering that most people have never heard of Coreper and that it has such a central role (especially given just how many [prep bodies there are](https://www.consilium.europa.eu/en/council-eu/search-the-list-of-council-preparatory-bodies/)), I figured it would be interesting for people here to read a bit about it and the changes surrounding it.
I guess people can discuss whether or not this is a welcome change.
