The objective is rile up the Iranian people, into a proper frenzy, that somehow necessitates US troops on the ground. Whether that is through a failed uprising against the government, or a “rally around the flag” movement that consolidates power back to the regime, the desired outcome is the same – Israel wants the US on the ground, just like in Iraq.

Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has called the joint US and Israel strikes “wholly unprovoked, illegal, and illegitimate”.
In a post on X he adds that Donald Trump has turned “America First into Israel First – which always means America Last”.
