So basically, five Iranian Kurdish opposition groups have just teamed up and launched a formal alliance aimed at toppling the Iranian regime. This is pretty big news because Iran’s ruling establishment is weaker than usual, to say it mildly 😉. These groups have long been doing their own thing, but after months of talks and preparation they agreed to coordinate their political and on-the-ground efforts. Their goals are basically regime change in Tehran and self-determination for Kurds.

I hate to be the bearder of bad news, but ethnic separatism isn’t that contusive to a stable new stable, liberal Iranian state given only half the country is Persian; it’s probably just going to cause Turkey to get involved and lead to the breakup of Iran.
Plus, I doubt any Iranian government (even assuming the evil Mullahs fall) would just let these regions go; Iran would become a rump state beholden to its neighbors if all its Non-Persian Regions broke off from it.
