It is not what enters one’s mouth that defiles that person; but what comes out of the mouth is what defiles one.

  3. [The Liberal review of the 2025 federal election was leaked by Anthony Albanese](https://www.aph.gov.au/Parliamentary_Business/Tabled_Documents/15342), of all people, and I don’t think there were any surprises in the report; it’s everything that has been said a million times. I think there’s a bit of a Streisand effect going on; if they had quietly released it, nobody would have cared. I wonder if it’s because it’s particularly harsh on Angus Taylor, without naming him, and Jane Hume.

Why is it a thread? Why not a rope or a cord or a chain? Those seem very discussable.

2028 US election hot take: I think Israel support winds up being a much more salient issue in the 2028 primaries for both parties than people previously expected, and whoever wins the presidency in the end is the more anti-Israel of the two candidates.

    People are under-reacting.

Most of the people in my life haven’t given nearly any thought to us entering this war.

Iraq seemed a lot more front of mind

I was thinking about potential military implications of this war for the Pacific. All the commentary about long-range drones like Shaheds being used by China are overblown, the distance is too long and there are more countermeasures.

But what about Iran’s shoddy ballistic missiles? China has more than 3000 of its own ballistic missiles, and obviously those are going to be far, far better. Naturally China would first use those in a war, but there’s a bottleneck in advanced manufacturing to get them out in number. So, if things were to drag on, might dumbing them down and mass-producing them be an option as a final resort? Iran’s launchers don’t seem sophisticated either, and I wonder how much training those crews even need.

Israel was warning that Iran might get 8,000 nukes within a few years, so an extra 5,000 in a couple years. If Iran can do that, what would stop China from acquiring 5,000 in short order? 10,000? 20,000? More? Maybe they really just could manufacture more advanced missiles and have it be worth it and this is a moot point. If not, I think the main constraint would be the desire to not kill as many civilians with bad accuracy.

I feel like such a consoomer/total boomer luxury communism recipient. Recently found out I was eligble for some government-given vouchers that could be used for a large variety of stuff, either shops in certain area or supermarkets. Not meant for an income group, everyone got them. I am about to use them to buy a second switch 2 and maybe some games.

Consequently, the price of the Switch is way more expensive than usual in these places.

For all I think Avatar is cheesy and full of eye-rolling hippie nonsense, I love how much effort was put into making the human starships scientifically plausible with real engineering principles, and not using FTL
