  1. 1. Summary

Despite all the outlandish behavior exhibited by Donald Trump since his return to the White House, there were high hopes that he would keep his word to end “forever wars” and that, under him, the US would refrain from making military interventions based on its own ideology and values.

A year into Trump’s term, those expectations have proven entirely unfounded. The US president’s foreign policy can only be understood as being based on predatory hegemony, which is fundamentally fueled by the personal interests of Trump and his cronies.

    2. How is this related to the sub

    (1) The consolidation of Extractive Institutions in the US: American institutions no longer serve public good but serve only Trump family and their inner circle of cronies. This is exhibited in his foreign policy

    3. My opinion

Some Korean leftists wanted Trump re-elected so that the US would be restrained in its military adventures. They were upset by Biden’s Cold War rhetorics and escalations in Ukraine/Palestine. So, they believed that if Trump was elected, the world could return to peace and prosperity. But they are realizing how delusional and stupid they were. This opinion piece should be understood as him lamenting his mistaken view on Trump.

P.S. The author who wrote this article demanded westerners to vote for Victor Orban, Le Pen, Nigel Farage, AfD and Trump because of they are peace candidates in his 2024 opinion piece which claimed “voting for Far-right is vote for peace”.
