He could've said 'the most evil regime' but he deliberately said people, and he said this after bombing an essential civillian building the people need and spreading fictional dehumanizing atrocity propaganda that was used to justify annihilating another group right after. This would be the most sick headline ever if we weren't so desensitized by now.
What makes this even worse is the fact the White House reposted this rather than covered it up, they literally are proud of bombing a desalination plant, proud of their near-genocidal and blatant lies, and they aren't even trying to appear ignorant, and knowing Trump could be projecting makes this way more disgusting.

When I was a child, I remember hearing the leaders of Iran calling the US the Great Satan. I remember feeling the sting of those words. It felt very sharp, full of rage, and made me uncomfortable. “How could they say such things”, I thought. Decades later, after years of peeling off the layers of truth, critically analyzing politics, history, economics, spirituality, those words, “great Satan”, still sting and burn. This time, the weight of those words are powerful because I know that they are true. It comes with a dreadfully heavy heart to know and understand that this country, of which I am made and from, truly and categorically is the Great Satan. May God have mercy on us, especially those who live with kindness and compassion in their hearts. We’ve been led, in our name, by an evil progression of regimes, whose vile wickedness knows no bounds, spares no souls. May God judge them with the same fervor and severity that they have shown the good people of the world whose only crime was being in the way of their lust for money and power
