  1. Right_Lecture3147 on

I’ll never forget overhearing another student, a bit older than me, about 25, on the bus in Seoul talking about visiting the US once a year with a 10TB hard-drive to load up on porn to evade the porn ban. Where there is a horny will there is a way

  2. Why it’s related to neoliberalism:

The whole age verification on social media policy, that Australia is implementing, is starting to have ramifications on other unexpected ways, that some websites simply cannot afford to implement an age check policy is blocking all visits from Australia so that they can avoid being sued, how the policy changing the way Australian Internet ecosystem and whether it will resolve the problem among teenagers’ Internet usage is remain to be seen, which is related to liberalism.

    My view on this:

Though I support social media ban on children as a last resort to keep young population from being the prey of unchecked algorithm, it’s ramification that many website have to block visit from Australia is certainly going to antagonize some voters in Australia, which will even more fueling the far right populism as the PHON and Alt-right parties are already pushing the idea that the whole scheme is Labor and Greens fault.

Also for myself, though I know it’s a totally scenario, but needing a VPN to access porn somehow reminds me the days back in China…

  3. Living in a red state, I’ve had to start paying for Mullvad to get around similar blocks. Just ridiculous.
