After pressure from the Trump administration cutting off oil supplies to the island, Cuba is set to open its economy to private investment from Cuban Americans. This would spell the effective end of Communism on the island, and put Cuba into the US sphere of influence.
It remains to be seen if this will be enough to appease Trump and Cuban American voters.
