If Japan get a pass from Iran then presumably nost other Asian countries would also get a pass, or even if not then oil can still be shipped among Asian countries.
In this case, given US, Europe, Israel do not import much oil from there to begin with, the blockage itself’s impact on global oil supply and economy would probably be much less than originally anticipated, I think
But then, two key matters remain
First, Iranian Foreign Minister saying something does not necessarily mean IRGC or the one firing rockets will follow their command, and if the situation drag on then whether the restrictions will expand once again is also unknown
Second, Even if ships are allowed throufh Iranian side of the strait, how much capacity it have it term of number of ships it’d allow to pass is also unknown, amd at the current pace then it would still be a very big supply constraint
So I think the situation seems better but not really all clear with this news out
