  1. > In places like Europe, a number of Chinese EVs sell at prices under $30,000. Some of those cars include amenities like advanced driving assistance software, a built-in mini fridge, and the option to sing karaoke with your fellow passengers.

As an American, it’s hard to put into words how much this pisses me off.

Not the quality of Chinese EVs, but the fact that my country _consistently_ has to make our standard of living worse in pursuit of some stupid fucking bullshit, like protecting Rust Belt `[slurs]` or f*rmers or NIMYBs or `[insert special interest group here]`.

And it’s obviously not just EVs. We’ve had this trend for healthcare, with bullet trains, with fintech, with housing, and now we have this trend with EVs. It’s like U.S. politicians across the spectrum are so beholden to niche special interests that they’re incapable of thinking towards any vision of long term, collective prosperity.

I didn’t think this was legal? There has to be certain safety regulations to register your vehicle right?

If I had ev charging at my apartment I would most likely switch. My inability to charge at home over night is basically a deal breaker
