Lars Calmfors argues that Sweden should reconsider joining the euro, noting that the economic case is stronger than in the 1990s. Trade and investment gains from membership appear larger, while the loss of independent monetary policy is less costly. The krona’s crisis depreciation may be less useful amid today’s global shocks, and low public debt gives fiscal room to respond to domestic downturns. Geopolitical tensions make deeper participation in Eurozone decisions more attractive. Public opinion remains cautious, so any move would likely require a new referendum.

No it shouldn’t since private debt is high, mortages are mostly 3 month rolling averages which makes them very sensitive to quick changes in central bank rents for good and bad. Also becoming more economically entwined with France, Italy, Spain and many others seems like a poor idea
