Thats fucked up. I thought clinical psychiatrists worked in these facilities to assess whether someone wants to die due to depression, in which case they would be denied assisted suicide.

I know this will be controversial, and don’t support it, but if you don’t have the freedom over your own life that’s almost worse.
There should be a long period of time where you go to mental health specialists to try and help, but if after years you’re still stuck hating life, euthanasia seems better for everyone involved vs ending it in a way that would traumatize loved ones or strangers.
