Two Australian states offer free public transport as war pushes up fuel prices

  1. Submission statement: Tasmania and Victoria offer free public transportation due to surging fuel prices. In Tasmania, the revenue is 6 million while losses are in 4 million, so it wouldn’t really mean much. ACT is run by the left but they voted against it as it would mean more people using public transportation while Tasmania run by the Liberals voted for it.

    This is a case of populous developed countries offering free public transportation as well as different political persuasions choosing different positions on this.

  2. Only in the Anglosphere would you see the government taking money away from public transit agencies at a time when it’s needed most.
