A Russian Antonov-26 military transport aircraft has crashed over the Ukrainian peninsula of Crimea. 23 passengers and six crew members were killed in the crash. This was reported by Russian news agencies, including Tass, based on a statement from the Ministry of Defense.

It concerned a “scheduled flight,” according to the ministry. “The search and rescue team has located the crash site of the An-26 aircraft. According to reports from the scene of the accident, the six crew members and 23 passengers on board were killed.”

According to Tass, no traces of external influences were found on the aircraft wreckage. At this stage, it is therefore assumed that a technical malfunction was the cause of the crash.
