Kharg Island “just an oil depot”. Why is NOBODY mentioning the greek temples, ancient monestary and big city older than roman empire?

I mean its in the middle east, part of the persian empire.

You cant throw a rock without hitting a historical site.

I get where you’re trying to come from with this but most likely man, they just want to take this island because it is very important to Iran’s oil industry. Its also like a “baby step” to get people more comfortable with the idea of boots on the ground vs. a mainland invasion. Once a bunch of US troops are killed on the island, they will use those deaths to justify staying and going further.
