Trump warns a ‘whole civilization will die tonight’ if a deal with Iran isn’t reached
Submission statement: I would ordinarily keep this to the Iran, but this statement is so insane and beyond the pale, even for Trump, that it’s newsworthy.
American conduct in Vietnam was deeply immoral. When it came out that the US was considering bombing the dykes, it was a scandal which brought outrage even from many who supported the war. This will not bring nearly so much. The level of moral debasement is sickening. The veneer of civilisation is being stripped away before our very eyes.

Disgusting, he is really turning this country into a terrorist state like Russia. I don’t feel like people are truly digesting the gravity of his rhetoric and political behavior. Hopefully, Ben Shapiro is right and the institutional guard-rails hold.

I think the Iranian regime is hella evil, but I can’t pretend we have some kind of moral high ground when our attacks on the regime so cavalierly kill civilians.
When the rhetoric for this war goes to “a whole civilization will die”, I can’t interpret this any other way than us being just as malignant and evil as the regime we claim to oppose.

You know, sometimes people will say (in relation to Netanyahu & Israelis) “you can’t judge a country by one man, how would you feel if the world judged Americans by Trump?”
But idk if I could find fault with people for judging Americans (even those of us who didnt vote for him) by our leader, as much as I hate it.

This is the first time in his life he’s truly fucked something up so bad that he can’t simply walk away and pretend it never happened or force someone else to bail him out. Now he’s panicking and trying to grasp some type of victory from the jaws of defeat, which makes him extremely dangerous because he clearly doesn’t give a shit about consequences.
Unfortunately I don’t think the worthless empty suits in his cabinet will do anything to restrain his worst impulses on this so it could very well come down to the military removing him from power.
