52/48 in a district so red it elected an actual Neanderthal because she had (R) next to her name – no offense to our extinct subspecies.
A win, but not exactly a comforting result.
That said, republicans *always* seriously underperform in low-turnout special elections so it’s hard to extrapolate much. The Dems ballot-harvesting operations can’t really swing the presidency but they can definitely scrounge up enough suspicious votes to move the needle on these.
I know the GOP despises this tactic and wants to outlaw it nationally, but they will eventually have to learn to play this game.
