The National Defense Authorization Act for the Fiscal Year 2024 (Section 1250A) explicitly states that the President shall not suspend, terminate, denounce, or withdraw the United States from the North Atlantic Treaty except by and with the advice and consent of the Senate (requiring a two-thirds supermajority of Senators present and voting to concur) or pursuant to an act of Congress.

That means American allies will stop buying or investing in US chemicals, medicine, labour and food as they gradually migrate to more dominant markets. Which means more inflation for US consumers and a weakening of the dollar.

War profiteering is inherently antithetical to readiness. Anyone being honest about it knows this. Russia, China, and practically every other country that isn’t part of NATO gets a lot more for their money because they aren’t working on a “profits first” model like the USA bloc is.

Macron has been saying €’s spent on military should be spent in European countries. So much so that UK got pissy because they were asked to buy into the EUro defence fund or whatever it is called so the UK could sell weapons.
