Submission statement: Important geopolitical development, we will see how this effects the opening of the straight of Hormuz

(For real though it’s actually interesting how primates can literally go to war despite having no ethnic, religious, etc divisions. Maybe that says something for humans about how we are just hard wired for conflict)

If we don’t intervene, this could spread to other formerly peaceful chimp nations. In sort of a domino effect, in theory.

  3. …. But why? What would cause chimpanzees to just start killing family once every 500 years

    >The scientists behind the study estimate such conflict occurs only once every 500 years.

Why do scientists insist on undermining their own credibility with unsubstantiated bullshit claims like these

I think this is a fascinating insight into how war is just a part of the natural state of the world. Even our closest relatives engage in complex tribal warfare.

    >From around 2015, what had been a single cohesive group began to polarise. Social ties frayed, neighbourhoods within the community hardened into distinct factions and shared territory became a contested border. By 2018, the break was permanent.

The culprit of such turmoil? Exclusionary zoning 😔

  7. Chimpanzees put the lie to the “only humans could [insert something bad here]” sentiment.
