Jang Dong-hyuk, pro-Yoon far-right leader of PPP well-known for his worship of MAGA, is meeting Trump administration officials.
2. How is this related to the sub
(1) Globalization of far-right: The US has became somewhat similar to interwar year Soviet Union, an ideological homeland for all type of far-right movement. Far-right leaders around the world are heading to the US to gain favors from Donald Trump.
3. My opinion
Pro-Yoon Far-right has been greatly emboldened since Trump’s military adventures on Venezuela and Iran. They are now convinced “Second Foundation War”, a prophesized Trump’s invasion on Korea preached by evangelical pastors is coming. So, they are intensifying lobbying efforts in Washington D.C., greatly diminishing resources for domestic electoral campaigns.
This meeting should be considered the achievement of these lobbying efforts. The far-right are convinced that Trump’s intervention will overturn everything. For them, elections, public opinion and domestic networks don’t matter as long as Trump helps them.
It is suspected that Jang gave up on campaigning for June local elections because the electorate was too hostile to him.
