Rep. Tony Gonzales quits Congress after affair, lewd texting scandal with staffer who fatally set herself on fire

To be honest we’ve got a lot of members to clean out of Congress but at least they aren’t holding out to hope they don’t get expelled like Cory Mills and Sheila Cherfilus-McCormick. Ilhan Omar might even be on that list too if the Ethics Committee doesn’t side with her, and I wouldn’t mind seeing the Hamas caucus fully expelled.

It doesn’t shock me at all that both Tony Gonzales and Eric Swalwell resigned though. The proof was damning enough for Swalwell to end his governor campaign and force Gonzales to drop out of the general election.

Just might be a bit of a tougher road for Brandon Herrera if Abbott calls a special election for TX23 because special elections have been more in favor of Democrats lately. I’d bet on special elections being called too because the majority is so narrow that it could put the speakership in jeopardy too.
