I think an argument could be made that a local government could offer to support citizens in need with higher quality, lower cost food options. The motive alone is not inherently bad, naive though it may be in practice.
That having been said, I’m having a hard time understanding how, in a city like NYC which is full-up with scammers and people always looking for an angle to take advantage, how this proposed system is going to actually help people and not just provide product to scalpers who will subsequently sell in the streets?

Dems will literally look at the DMV and think- I want those people running my healthcare and providing me all my food…
