AMOC Collapse is relevant on how different place should build to adapt to climate change. There is lots of uncertainty about AMOC future strength since it wasn’t monitored in real time since 2004 with the Rapid Array which sits at east of Florida with another monitoring was done in the south Atlantic since 2009. The real time monitoring data also has some noise. In the last few years you will have seen some studies if the looked at one parameters’ showing high likelihood of collapse in the mid century or AMOC is stable.
The Consequences of a collapse it strongest in Europe, but the effect is worldwide. In the East Coast sea levels will rise 1m as water that would have gone it Europe is no longer going there. Precipitation is likely to fall in some regions while rising in other. Here is a map of Precipitation change with AMOC Collapse at 2.5C temperature increase above the 1850-1900 average.
