Pure speculation but I recall seeing an episode from his later work on "Parts Unknown". He visited the people of Palestine and interviewed them about their relationship with the state of Israel. It was an honest perspective that I think could have led to his.. "suicide".
what are the chances? nothing surprises me anymore.
