My Secret Life, chapter three.” I was neither a murder suspect, nor a target for an international spy organization. But I drove a car down the Jersey Turnpike at 80 mph. …A police officer pulled me over and asked for my driver’s license. He said I was going 20 mph over the speed limit. I instantly pointed to my wife and said, “I’m in a hurry, my wife is in labor.” Fortunately, my wife actually had a big stomach. I hoped he’d let me go with this excuse. “Oh, since it’s an emergency. I’ll lead you to the hospital with my police car,” he said. “No, it’s not necessary.” “Why not?” asked the officer. “Uh… well…” “Let’s get going,” said the officer… “No, no! We can’t! This baby is a demon child!

  2. To this day, I’ve never had a pro-AI DTer offer me a solution to all the problems AI cause that isnt “well the productivity increase AI will cause will outweigh all the negatives”

It feels so weird that something can have so many issues in the social sphere (the decline in student performance; all-time # of misinformation designed to destabilize democracies; the emergency of essentially western oligarchs from the owners of the AI giants (Elon musk, Sam Altman, etc etc)), yet so many ‘evidence-based’ people reject it all with the belief the market will sort it out. Or even more disingenuously, that US congress will pass AI regulations (lol)

Deng Xiaoping was never a good person, and you never have to hand it to him. His primary goal was the survival of an authoritarian party. He didn’t promote economic liberalization, because he thought it was good principally or for the Chinese people.

  4. So many users who don’t comment at the 23rd hour of the last DT and only come out in the 1st hour of a new DT…

I believe the liberty to do some harms is important and it should not be prevented by the law, even if possible.

    For example, insulting someone.

  8. Met a cousin, with whom I was apparently very close when I was young, after a long time. God puberty hit her hard, she’s now way taller than me and muscular too. She could break my neck with fingers. It’s very awkward to talk with her after so long

Something I think is kinda fun to do in stellaris is create what I call the “black zone”.

Officially, the area comprising 6 systems and 1 planet is sealed off due to a dimensional horror in the area, thus travel into the area is forbidden.

Unofficially? Sentry array, military infrastructure, shipyards, training facilities, research facilities, etc.

It doesn’t do anything gameplay wise, but I like the lore implications.

  10. Trump admin and 10 Republican congresspeople of your choice agree to denounce MAGA, resign immediately, never work in politics again and fade from public life.
In exchange, they each get $5m and them, their families, and close associates can’t be prosecuted or retaliated against beyond the above terms.
They get go away and live comfortably.

    Do you take it?

Stickies add a touch of novelty the first time you open the dt, then a cost of scrolling past it every single time. I conclude they are harmful for the active user.
