I think the problem with our current democracies is that politicians can torture citizens like this, and the most recourse citizens have is trying to get the laws repealed. The evil fucking ghouls implementing these laws should be fucking Nuremberged. If you’re the kind of sociopath who wants to torture and kill (let’s not kid ourselves about what these animals really want) trans people, what reason do you have not to use the government in any way you can to achieve that end? At worst the courts will strike your bills down. You’re never going to be punished for it, not the same way a citizen who tortures or murders someone is.
