**Submission Statement:** America is in love with tax break. For the wealthy, for homeowners, for the poor, for seniors, for parents, for students, for hourly workers, for veterans, etc. etc.
But as government spending continues to increase, neither party seems to have the stomach for either the substantial spending cuts needed to rectify the growing problem, or broadening the tax base to bring in more tax revenue.
With the threat of electoral backlash on either party that pushes for spending cuts or tax increases, both sides are content to keep “business as usual”.

This is one reason I despise leftists: instead of framing taxes as a way for us all to contribute, and admitting that the middle class was going to have to get taxes raised too, they framed taxes as a way to take revenge on rich people and promised the middle class that there would be no raises.

The fact that almost everyone thinks taxes are too while also being in a massive deficit and there being no obvious area to cut without publish backlash is a complete disaster. If Democrats can’t convince the public that their policies are worth funding by increasing people taxes, none of the progressive goals will happen.

At this point, how about we just keep a running poll of everyone’s opinion of each type of profession and whatever % disapproval rating your job has is your tax rate?

It would be cool if we took a hard look at ALL tax expenditures. Like why should we be handing out tax expenditures so employers can purchase health insurance for some of their employees?
