Ukrainian teens are committing acts of betrayal. How should they be judged?

Ukrainian youths are being recruited and paid by Russian agents to sabotage critical Ukrainian equipment and rail lines. The country faces a dilemma on how to charge them for their crimes.

While this sort of sabotage can be harmful for Ukraine ultimately the biggest culprits are Russia who are the ones paying these children to perform these acts for a meagre pittance after themselves being the cause of the war that made conditions so hard for these kids in the first place. As for the kids themselves, if they are to be punished hopefully it is light sentences. What they’re doing is wrong but they’re only teenagers who can’t fully understand the implications of their actions. These are young boys who grew up in wartime, in brutal conditions, often without fathers or uncles to guide them, and I think Ukraine in general recognises that.
