People mad about datacenters driving up their local energy prices should be happy about this, because datacenters are basically the perfect use case for SMR’s. They run 24/7, one SMR pretty closely fits energy requirements of the new AI mega datacenters, and the big tech companies making them have the cash and initiative to do this.

I cannot stand the solar and wind people going on about renewables, when nuclear is right the hell there, can actually scale without devouring miles of open country, and China’s already claimed to have demonstrated a working molten salt design. (TMSR-LF1) It’s China, so who knows, but the science on it has always been solid, it’s just a lack of investment and political will. It’s frustrating.
