  1. **1. Why is this relevant for r/neoliberal ?**

An FTA between blocs of 27 European and 4 South American states (Bolivia is also part of Mercosur, but the deal doesn’t apply to it due to having joined after negotiations were over) is self-explanatory.

**2. What do you think people should discuss about it?**

People should discuss the effects this will have on trade and companies in the EU and Mercosur, the possible geopolitical effects of this and/or the challenges associated with its full rollout, considering **investment protection is not being applied** due to this being just the provisional application as a result of existing opposition inside the EU.

**2a. What do you think of the issue at hand?**

I don’t believe the deal will fully enter into force, as it requires unanimous support from all EU member-states, which is unlikely given the persistent opposition of states like France, Poland and Ireland on agriculture. Nevertheless, just like the CETA deal with Canada, this will provide a boost to the economies and trade of both parties.
