Unless you have a pre-mid70s government, you will always have problems with Iran.
My suggestion would be to let either Israel govern them (troops on the ground for regime change), or let the other Middle East countries govern them the same way.

100% correct. Don’t trust them anymore. Starve them out of the Strait, destroy their oil industry, take over Kharg Island’s facilities and put them in the hands of an American oil company, giving them armed security (or establishing a small US military base on the island), then wipe out the remnants of the IRGC, allow the prince to come back and usher in the new government and reform the military and call it a day. Bring everyone home.

Arm the people and train them to fight back.
