On May 5, 2016… ten years ago from the date implied in the lower headline: Donald Trump posted a Cinco de Mayo message from Trump Tower. He wrote: "Happy Cinco de Mayo! The best taco bowls are made in Trump Tower Grill. I love Hispanics!"
The post was widely criticized at the time as a clumsy, stereotypical gesture, especially given that Trump had launched his 2016 presidential campaign by calling Mexican immigrants "rapists" and promising to build a border wall.
