Something of a question here. Does anyone have any information about DEWs that could be used to disable drone controllers? Something that could specifically be aimed at the controller (and the person holding it) that would cause the controller device to crash and lose contact with the drone.

Whatever it is would cause a brief, but intense, radiation spike.

I am asking because this happened yesterday with me, while I was being… excessively curious at a site near Area 51. While at this site, playing cat and mouse with the various security trucks, I launched my drone to get a high altitude view. And yes, I was well above the legal altitude limit, about 1500 feet AGL.

That isn't important. What's important is that about 3 minutes into the flight, my radiation detector started alarming. It had been recording a track all day thus far, mostly sticking to readings under 3 counts per second, and 0.34 microsieverts. Normal background. But all if a sudden, my controller glitched out and shut down out of nowhere, severing contact with my drone. The alarm on the detector signalled, and I saw it spike from 0.34 µSv/hr all the way above 60 µSv/hr and 940 CPS (counts per second). That is a significant level of radiation. It lasted less than a minute, and it actually made me feel slightly dizzy and confused just for a couple seconds. I posted the radiation detector readings and the full track to the Radiaverse map.

My question here is if anyone has some idea of what this was, or if anyone has experienced something similar.

Just be thankful you got away with mild radiation poisoning vs lead poisoning. It baffles me how many people play stupid games at actual military bases.
